I disconnect the EMU, it fires up at once. On the way home the car shuts down (while overtaking a truck). Tuned it for 30 minutes, everything worked ok. If you think the EMU is bad, for the 1.6 NB, it is even worse for the NBFL 1.8. Much better than my previous set up (BEGi FMU & MSD Timing Controller), and the tune is still a bit rough around the edges, and I'm still pretty rich up top. I'll admit that my tune is still far from perfect, but it's still pretty good. I attribute it to an issue with my airflow output map, which I believe to be corrected. I have received a CEL from rich one time. I haven't tried the autotune yet, but I've been told that it will give you ballpark numbers to work with, that you have to go in and smooth out.

Sometimes I close the software and reopen it after making a change. The changes don't seem to occur instantly I'll have to wait a few minutes to see if the change produced the desired result. I will agree that using the realtime communication mode to adjust the fuel map has not been reliable for me. Once I've got my base tune nailed down, I'll use the 2 maps together to double my resolution, so I'll have a 32x16 fuel map.Īlso, with some help, I've got a wonderfully working airflow output map. If the changes were succesful, I'll modify the IJ map 1 and add the next set of changes to IJ map2. I make changes in the ij adjustment map 2, and if the changes were detrimental, I can switch that map off. For instance, I have my base ij adjustment map 1, which I don't experiment on. The ability to run 2 cumulative maps together has been a help in tuning. Most of my off boost fuel adjust cells are set to 0. I have to say that my brief experience with the EMU (just a couple weeks) is totally opposite of yours. The CEL remains off, and I wonder why the EMU went in the market anyway. Off boost driveability is far more superior to the one we achieved with the EMU. AFR 14.7 idle with a 10 seconds effort! Fine tuning the car took about 45 minutes. The installation was a piece of cake, and the 310cc injectors worked immediately just using the injector scale function. I installed an EM Blue unit with a new boomslang harness. The stock ECU ALONE was handling the 310cc injectors pretty good (AFR 11.5-12 idle), and the CEL remained off. The first sign that the EMU was totally unreliable was the fact that the car worked very well off boost WITHOUT a piggyback (off course I did not tried any boost without the EM). Thank god, a Monday morning the EMU stopped to work. It took about 12-15 tuning sessions (3-4 hours each) to make the car function like stock The “very rich mixture” CEL was always on, despite the fact that the AFR was normal (13-14) off boost. Autotune produced a very raw map, which was unusable without fine tuning The software was a real masterpiece of bad programming (the e-Mamage situation)

The management of the larger injectors (310cc) was very poor. The vehicle settings were changing randomly when you saved a map. The 2 injector and ignition maps were adding each other if they were not assigned to the dip switches Tuning using Injector Duration was unreliable Injector scale didn’t worked properly when Injector Duty Cycle was used Injector scale didn’t worked at all when Injector Duration was used There where several problems we had to solve in this time:
